Amateur who appeared as a teenager for Exeter City reserves in the Plymouth and District League between 1911 and 1913 before migrating to Canada. Returned to play for the reserves in the 1920s but at no point did he play for the first-team.

Known to have played for the reserves against Torquay Town on 2 September 1911 and thereafter on a regular basis usually as an  . outside-left. Left at the end of the 1912/13 to emigrate to Saskatchewan, Canada (where 'Joe' Ashton, an earlier City player was already farming) where he continued to play football.

Returned to Devon in 1920/21 and initially appeared for Heavitree United before re-emerging to appear for Exeter City reserves on occasions between 1925 and 1927. Appeared for Devon at least once in the Southern Counties' Amateur Championship against Middlesex at Torquay in  October 1925.
