Biographical Text

An amateur goalkeeper, studying at the University College of the South-West, who is known to have played for Exeter City's reserves in the Western League against Torquay United in January 1926.

Harold Wymond Sleep was born in Exeter and gained a science degree from the predecessor college of Exeter University in 1926 having won a scholarship to Hele's School from Ladysmith Road School. He later played for Sheffield FC, worked as a teacher in Lancashire and lived in Blackburn at the outbreak of war in 1939 before seeing wartime service with the Royal Air Force. He died in Kent in 1990 when on holiday from his home in Surrey.
