Turl appeared for Exeter City reserves in the Southern and Western leagues during the 1927/28 and 1928/29 seasons without making a first-team appearance.

Exeter-born, and a former Devon County player, he first appeared on the right-wing for the reserves in April 1927. Probably in his mid-twenties at the time, he remained at the club into the following season when he was a regular for the reserves.
