Biographical Text
Graham Muxworthy was thirty-four when he played for Exeter City Reserves 1972. He had played in the Football League with Crystal Palace and Bristol Rovers.
It's not immediately apparent how and why he was turning out for City's reserves at such an advanced stage of his career. He may have been helping in an 'emergency' or taking on some sort of coaching role.
He somewhat ironically started his career with Exeter United in Bristol football before signing for Crystal Palace in 1957 for whom he made two league appearances. Moving on from Selhurst Park after a single season, he had two seasons with Chippenham Town prior to a £1,000 transfer to Bristol Rovers where he had to wait to make all of his eight league appearances at the end of the long winter of 1962/63.
Shortly afterwards he moved to Bridgwater Town followed by Glastonbury, Bath City, Salisbury City and Weston-super-Mare where he had been playing before appearing for Exeter's reserves.
Moving into coaching he worked with the Football Association based at Millfield School in Somerset, managed Frome Town and coached Bristol Rovers' youth team. In later life, even at the age of eighty, he was coaching in Bristol City's academy and died at Long Ashton near Bristol in May 2024 having worked in the area as a self-employed electrician.
