Heeps, a right-half from Scotland, appeared for Exeter City’s reserves during the 1928/29 season but did not play for the first-team during his time with the club.

First known to have appeared for the reserves against Taunton Town in the Western League in September 1928, he was reported as arriving from Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. He subsequently made a number of additional appearances for the reserves in both the Southern and Western leagues before leaving the club.
