Heeps was signed by Exeter City, from Rothesay, in the Autumn of 1928. He made his debut against Taunton Town in a Western League fixture, as a right half on the 29th of December 1928.

He did not play for the 1st team but continued to play in the Western and Southern League to the end of the 1928/29 season.
