Biographical Text
Mark Purcell, brother of first-team player George, was briefly with Exeter City in 1928/29 and appeared for the reserves in the Western League,
Aged twenty-six at the time, and hailing from Barnsley, he is known to have appeared for the reserves against Torquay United Reserves on 3 November 1928. Brother of George, who made nearly 250 league and cup appearances for the Grecians between 1926 and 1932, he was in action for the reserves at St James‘ Park whilst his brother was turning out for City at Fulham in the Football League.
Mark also played for Attercliffe, Mexborough Athletic, Barrow, Scunthorpe & Lindsey Utd, Lancaster Town and Peterborough Utd
