Biographical Text
Tom Wainwright first appeared for Exeter City in the Devon and Exeter Youth League whilst still at school between 1995 and 1997. He later gained a PhD and became an authority on enhanced recovery after surgery protocols in orthopaedics.
Registered as an associated schoolboy, he remained with the club until 1998/99 when he scored in both the FA Youth Cup and for the reserves in the Football Combination.
Also a cricketer with Sidmouth, he studied physiotherpy at Coventry University and eventually became professor of orthopaedics and a senior figure in the Orthopaedic Research Institute at Bournemouth Univeristy.
