Aaron was in the Exeter City under-16 development squad in 2002/03 and later, after making his debut as a sixteen-year-old, made in excess of 350 appearances for Barnstaple Town. His brother Jed appeared in the Football League with Plymouth Argyle.

The highlight of Aaron's Barnstaple career was captaining successive promotion-winning teams in 2015 and 2016 before, with the club then in the Southern League, having a spell as manager between December 2018 and September 2019.

He also played for Bideford, Appledore and Ilfracombe Town.
