Biographical Text
Dave Birmingham was still at school when he sat on the bench for a Devon Bowl game against Torquay United in September 1996. He later enjoyed a brief career in the Football League with Portsmouth and Bournemouth.
He was just entering his final year of school when he was named in the squad for the Devon Bowl game against Torquay at Plainmmor with the possible view to being offered a traineeship for the following season. In the event nothing came of his trip to Devon and he was offered youth terms by AFC Bournemouth in 1997.
Not offered a professional contract at Dean Court on reaching eighteen, he move to Portsmouth - his home town club - where he made two league appearances before heading west to Bournemouth again for whom he made a belated four league appearances.
He later turned out for Bognor Regis Town.
