Colin was a member of the Exeter City 'A' team in 1961 before captaining the Newton Poppleford team that won the Football Express Cup at St James' Park in 1964. Also a member of the Feniton team that won the same competition in 1974, Colin was the Devon and Exeter League's press officer for many years and City were able to meet his request to stage the 2024 Football Express final between Beacon Knights and Otterton at St James' Park.
