J. Muirhead of the Devonport Command was signed in February 1947, as cover for the goalkeeper's  "he will keep goal for the Reserves on Saturday against Gillingham" Express Newspaper 

He played in goal for Exeter City Reserves against Gillingham in a Southern League game at home on the 22/2/1947. City lost 6-0. He also played in the following game on March 5th against Yeovil in the Southern League Cup, where Exeter lost 8-3.
