Biographical Text
Malcolm McPherson arrivied at Exeter City on trial in the summer of 1997 after being released from Brentford. He had previously played for Yeovil and West Ham.
Born in Glasgow, he joined Yeovil Town in from school in 1991 before making a £30,000 move to West Ham United in 1994 whilst still a teenager. Hit by injuries during his time at Upton Park, he featured on loan with Dagenham & Redbridge and IFK Norrköping (Sweden) but did not make the Hammers' first-team. He then played a dozen league games for Brentford during 1996/1997.
Arriving at Exeter City as a 22-year-old in August 1997, he was hoping to remain in the professional game but was unsuccessful in securing a contract and eventually signed for Dorchester Town.
He later moved to New Zealand where he enjoyed a long career as as both a player and coach.
