Brian Grey, of (the then) Swansea Town, swapped sides to play in midfield for Exeter City in a friendly against the Swans in 1967 when City were short of players.

A Welsh schools international, he signed professional in September 1966 around the time he (slightly ironically) made his league debut against Exeter City. Playing 31 league games (nine goals) for his hometown club, he was part of the 1969 Welsh Cup final squad and the team that won promotion in 1969/70. 

Moving to Yeovil Town in July 1970, he helped the Somerset club (along with Exeter-born goalkeeper Tony Clark) win the Southern League title and reach the FA Cup third round when the Glovers faced double-chasing Arsenal. 

Subsequently turning out for Folkestone and Merthyr Tydfil, Brian ran several pubs in the Swansea area and died in the city in March 2024.
