Biographical Text
Christopher Holland was on loan at Exeter City in late March 2000 from Bristol City. He went on to have a long non-league career before becoming a university lecturer and an influential figure in the world of sports therapy.
Growing up in the Chard area, he started as a youth player at Bournemouth and became a professional in 1998 before joining Bristol City on a similar basis a year later where he was part of the first-team squad.
Arriving on loan at St James' Park towards the end of the 1999/2000, he played in a number of reserve games for Exeter City - including a midweek reserve league fixture against Plymouth Argyle - before returning to Ashton Gate.
Departing Bristol City soon afterwards, Christopher went on to enjoy a successful non-league career initially with Team Bath in the Southern League (at the time of Paul Tisdale's involvement) whilst gaining a degree in coach education and sports science from the University of Bath together with teaching qualifications. Staying in the city and working at the local college, he then enjoyed four seasons as a regular with Bath City in the Southern League and Conference South where he won promotion on two occasions and was twice player of the year.
Having also gained a masters in sports threapy from London Metropolitan University and a doctorate in chronic ankle instability from Gloucestershire University, Christopher was teaching at Southampton Solent University by the time he played in Conference South for Eastleigh in 2010/11 and for Havant and Waterlooville in 2011/12.
Also appearing for Weston-super-Mare (loan), Gosport Borough. Gloucester City and Cirencester Town at various stages of his time in football, he meanwhile built an academic career and became head of department for Sport Management, Therapy and Exercise at Worcester University as well as chairing the Society of Sports Therapists.
