Luke Staton, a trialist from Bolton Wanderers, appeared for Exeter City's youth team against Brentford in April 2000.

Orginally with Blackburn Rovers, he signed for Bolton Wanderers in January 1999. After his trial at Exeter, he joined Barry Town before later moving on to Merthyr Tydfil. 

Moving to the East Midlands in 2002, he had spells with Gainsborough Trinity, Worksop Town and Retford Town whilst developing a career in motivational and inspirational speaking.
