Biographical Text

After making around a dozen appearances for Ipswich Town, Kenny Thompson was a regular during his only season for Exeter City before departing for Yeovil Town in the summer of 1967.

A junior with Ipswich Town, Thompson signed a full contract for the Portman Road club in March 1962, but only made 12 league appearances for them.

He was signed on a free transfer by Exeter City in June 1966 and made his debut in the opening game of the season, a 0-0 draw at Wrexham. Despite playing in 39 league matches, he was surprisingly given a free transfer by the Grecians at the end of the season.

Thompson signed for Yeovil Town in the summer of 1967 and amassed 517 first team appearances, scoring 66 goals. He was later appointed player-manager of Chard Town having settled in South Somerset.
