Biographical Text

Kayode played for Exeter City on trial against Southampton in August 2002 having previously been at Bristol City. He later enjoyed success at Cheltenham and Barnsley and played for Nigeria.

Joining Bristol City as a trainee in 1998, he had made half-a-dozen first-team appearances when he headed to Exeter City a a twenty-year-old in 2002. With the club entering a chaotic period, and with many trialists coming and going, no offer was made for his services and he eventually signed for non-league Forest Green Rovers.

Within a few months a Football League opportunity arose on his doorstep when he moved to Cheltenham Town where he scored thirty times from 148 league outings.

Three years later he moved to Barnsley for £200,000 and, after being capped by Nigeria, remained at Oakwell for four seasons before switching to Colchester United.

In addition to a number of loans, he later featured for Rotherham, Tranmere, Stockport and, in 2018, Guiseley.
