Peter Thomas had two seasons with Exeter City in the mid-1950s. He also made a handful of league appearances for both Cardiff City and Newport County.He worked his way via the junior sides at Cardiff City to earn a full contract in March 1953. He made four league appearances for the Bluebirds, scoring one goal. Thomas scored on his debut for the club against Aston Villa in August 1953.
He signed for Exeter City in December 1954, and was virtually an ever-present for the rest of the season after scoring on his debut at Crystal Palace. Out of the side the following season he asked for a transfer in March 1955 whilst featuring in ten league matches at the end of the season scoring once.
He moved back to South Wales with Newport County in July 1956, but only played 8 league matches scoring once. He then joined Bath City followed by a spell at Weymouth before management stints with Bridgwater Town and Glastonbury.
