Future New Zealand international Mark Cossey spent a week on trial with Exeter City in August 1986.

Then aged twenty-one nothing came of his time with the Grecians and, spending most of his career with Waikato United, North Shore United and Melville United, he went on to win two full international caps for New Zealand in 1988 in games against Fiji. 

Mark subsequently enjoyed a long coaching and management career in New Zealand.
