Biographical Text
Steven Carvell, from East London, played for Exeter City on a non-contract basis during 2011/12 and made a scoring debut for the under-18s against Bristol Rovers in September 2011 before featuring in the team's run to the final of the youth alliance's cup competition. Also appearing for City's reserve team on occasions, Steven wasn't offered a contract and returned home to appear for clubs such as Brentwood, Barkingside, Aveley, Basildon United and, by 2017/18, VCD Athletic. Playing next for Sporting Bengal United, he subsequently had spells with Walthamstow, Barking, Saffron Walden Town and Phoenix Sports.
Later returning to Sporting Bengal - where he became a regular over a number of seasons - Steve was an important part of the team that won promotion from the Essex Senior League at the end of 2023/24 ahead of playing in the club's first-ever Isthmian League game in August 2024.
