Jason Smith

Jason Smith was on trial at Exeter City in October 1990.
A 16 year old, he was from Braunton, and had joined Spurs as an associate schoolboy but did not settle and asked to be released and so City snapped him up. Jason was a Six foot two, central defender, who played for Exeter City in the FA Youth Cup tie against Torquay in 1990/91.

Martin Rogers signed him for Tiverton.
A commanding centre-back even as a 17-year old, he made his debut for Tiverton Town in 1992, his reputation and ability earned him a trial and eventually a move to Coventry City, however he never made a first team appearance in his two seasons at the Sky Blues and he rejoined Tiverton in July 1995 and helped them win the FA Vase in 1998. He made over 100 apperances at Tiverton and his form and professionalism did not go unnoticed moving to Swanseas for £10,000 in June 1998.

Jason made a significant contribution as Swansea qualified for the Third Division play-offs and beat West Ham in the FA Cup third round in 1998-99. He scored eight goals in 142 League games for the Swansea until a recurring ankle injury ended his League career.

He briefly re-joined Tiverton in May 2004
