Biographical Text
Glenn Humphries had just left school in Hull when he had a short trial with Exeter City in September 1980. Shortly afterwards he became a trainee, and then a professional, with Doncaster Rovers before playing plenty of football with Bristol City and Scunthorpe United in a 358-game Football League career.
A centre half from Hull in search of a youth contract, he appeared for Exeter City’s reserves against Plymouth Argyle in a midweek reserve fixture in September 1980 before being taken on as a trainee by Doncaster Rovers.
Making his debut for Donny's first-team later that season he made 180 league appearances for the Belle Vue club - and was part of a promotion-winning team - before moving in 1987 to Bristol City (85 league appearances) and later Scunthorpe United where he made 72 league appearances.
Also featuring for Lincoln City on loan, he had a spell in Hong Kong before finishing his professional career with a dozen league outings for Hull City, his hometown club, in 1995/96.
