Biographical Text

Peter Begam was injured in his first competitive game in the colours of Exeter City and didn't appear again for the club although he did play for a number of Western League teams.

Signing for Exeter City on 9 July 1975, he played in several pre-season games before making his Western League debut for the reserves at Chippenham Town when he sustained a serious knee injury. Without a stretcher at hand, Peter had to be helped off the field by City manager John Newman who was playing in the game.

Not appearing for City again, and with his hopes of a career in professional football scuppered, he went on to play in the Western League for Exmouth Town, Dawlish Town and Tiverton Town.

Peter later moved into management with Exmouth Town, Exmouth Amateurs and Ottery St Mary.

(Peter contacted the Archive in 2020 to update his biography)
