Toogood, Emily

Emily, a defender played for Exeter in 2016/17, 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20.

During the course of the 2018/19 season, Emily as Captain led the club to a fantastic season with some cracking statistics: won 17, drew 1 and lost 2; scoring 110 goals and conceding just 23.

Emily has played over 70 league games for Exeter, and scored 7 goals.
Emily continued to play for City in 2020/21 as a defender.

She was one of four candidates for player of the month in October 2020, the club wrote the following
“A consistent attacking threat from full back this month, Emily hit her first goal of the season on Sunday with a fantastic strike from distance”

Emily scored a hatrick in the 3rd qualifying round of the FA Cup at home (Exwick), against AEK Boco LFC on the 1st November 2020,which included a spectacular strike from outside the box. This earned Emily the "Player of the Match" award and the club's management wrote "Three goals and part of a Defence that kept it's first Clean Sheet of the Season. Emily Toogood with a fantastic performance."

During the 2nd National lockdown in November 2020 due the pandemic the team produced some articles from players about players entitled.

"Our New Lockdown Series Starts"

Emily’s replies were:-

Quickest Player: Meg, blink and she's down the other end of the pitch

Not so Quickest: Myself, move like I am an OAP

Best Trainer: Sasha, so focused

Most intelligent: Steph, seems to be able to talk in depth about anything

Most Skilful: Hope, takes on five players and squares it for someone to tap

Team Joker: Manfy, hilarious but savage

Worst Taste in Music: Manfy, not necessarily the worst but the same stuff week in week out

Most Likely to Moan: Zoe. Keeps Clive on his toes

Who gets the most fines: Must be Manfy as she never seems to have any cash to buy a can of Coke after the game

A Last Minute Penalty to Win the League, who takes it? Ella Mae, never miss

Who would be in your 5-A Side Team: Me, Meg Lightfoot, Manfy, Phoebe Baker and Anthea

Most likely to get booked: Abbie, clearly so passionate it gets mistaken

Emily made her 100th appearance for Exeter WFC on the 13th of Match 2022 against Maidenhead, away.

David Gribble wrote in April 2023

"Exeter City Women will finish the season without one of the stars of the campaign, as Emily Toogood has been diagnosed with a Weber C fracture of her distal fibula and has had her leg set in a cast to aid recovery. The full back was injured after only forty seconds of Sunday’s game, heavily falling under a challenge, and will now miss the remainder of the season. Toogood has had one of her most consistent seasons in City colours, leading the assists for the team with fourteen and also adding ten goals. Stunning free kicks against AFC Bournemouth and Portishead, alongside a dramatic injury time winner at Selsey may well go on to be key moments in the team's fight for promotion."

Emily joined Liskeard in early 2024.
