Biographical Text

Everald La Ronde played for Exeter City against Torquay United in a reserve fixture in September 1985. He had captained West Ham’s FA Youth Cup-winning team in 1981 and later played in the Football League for the Hammers as well as for Bournemouth and Peterborough (loan). He retired early because of injury.

Becoming a West Ham United apprentice in 1979, he was captain of the club’s team that won the FA Youth Cup in 1981 by beating Tottenham Hotspur over two legs. With future Exeter City loanee Simon Webster in the beaten Spurs side, Everald spent a further two seasons at Upton Park and had made seven league appearances for the first-team by the time of his departure to AFC Bournemouth in September 1983.

Soon featuring, along with Trevor Morgan, in Bournemouth’s January 1984 FA Cup victory over Manchester United, he went on to make 24 league appearances for the Cherries along with another eight when on loan with Peterborough United.

Hit with knee, stomach and hernia problems, he was released from Dean Court just eighteen months after the club’s historic cup victory and, after trying his luck with Exeter City and Wealdstone, his career was effectively over at the age of twenty-two.
