John Gillard, involved at Crediton United for many years, played for Exeter "A" in the Devon and Exeter League in 1960/61.

A right-winger for most of his career, before finishing as a right-back, his one season as an Exeter City amateur was somewhat overshadowed by the twenty-five years he played for Credtion United. Later on the committee, and chair when the club moved to Lords Meadow in 1975, he also played golf at Crediton and Okehampton.

John died on 13 January 2023.
