Taylor, Mollie
Mollie moved from Buckland Athletic in April 2021.
On Signing, Abbie Britton, the manager/coach said
"Mollie is tenacious and aggressive and offer strength to our defensive options, an area we have struggled with for numbers recently. Mollie can play as well and will really help us progress heading in to the new season."
Mollie made her debut for Exeter City when they returned to action for the first time in four months on the 17th of April 2021in a Devon Women’s Senior Cup tie against Feniton at the Sports Hub.
Mollie scored on her debut and the following was "tweeted" by ECWFC.
"Esme Kilburn-Thompson wins the corner and Zoe Watkins' delivery is headed home by Mollie Taylor on her debut"
The following was from an article on the club website on the 18/4/2021
"Mollie Taylor is a name that will be synonymous with Plymouth Argyle Women’s Team supporters, making over 150 appearances for the Pilgrims at a higher level than City’s current National League standing. Mollie made the switch to Buckland Athletic in the Summer of 2020, appearing in all their games last season. With versatility in her game and a strong defensive leader, Mollie will offer a significant composure and quality to City’s back line."
"On completing her transfer, Mollie expressed her desire to be part of a team that pushes for a high league finish in 2021/2022. “Since arriving I can honestly say that there is a lot of talented and well disciplined players within the Club. I can see we are in a good position for the future. I am delighted to have signed and hope to help take the team further. I have had experience in the Premier Division and maybe we can compete for the Title this season and see ourselves playing at a higher standard? I see the Club as more than capable of doing that.”
"Exeter City Women's Mollie Taylor has won September's Vospers Goal of the Month award for her stunning strike against Southampton Women on September 5.
The goal was a fine team move, which was started at the back by Abbi Bond, the Grecians would move the ball through defence and midfield before Mollie Taylor was found on the edge of the box around 25-yards from goal, she would unleash a rocket of a shot into the top corner."

Exeter City reported on the 28th October 2025
"Mollie Taylor will make her final Exeter City appearance on Wednesday evening, as she departs St James Park after five years in red and white. Taylor introduced herself to Grecians fans with a stunning strike at Southampton Women’s FC, a goal that won the club’s Goal of the Month award for September 2021. A strong first season, saw Taylor’s competitive aggression and combative style earn a place as a firm favourite amongst supporters and teammates. A sensational strike from distance against AFC Bournemouth on the final day of the season would also gain Taylor notoriety on TikTok with over four million views of her goal. It was a season that saw her crowned the Exeter City Supporters Player of the Year. Another strong campaign in 2022/23 saw the Grecians just miss out on promotion, however, Taylor converted the winning penalty in City’s Devon County Cup victory over Plymouth Argyle to cement her place in Grecian folklore. The City defender played a key role in the Championship winning year of 2024, scoring at SJP against Moneyfields in a 5-3 thriller, before lifting another County Cup with success over the Pilgrims. A stunning strike against Gwalia United that resulted in a goal of the season award capped off a fine first season back in tier three for Taylor, a third successive season of scoring at SJP and completing one hundred appearances in red and white making it another year to remember.
Taylor departs the Grecians with the best wishes of City manager Abbie Britton. “Mollie has been a fantastic player for this football club and a key part of our team. From tier four, the fight to gain promotion, the county cup victories and the FA Cup runs, she has played a huge part in all of we have achieved and we are sad to see her go. We have a group of legacy players in this squad, those who have changed what Women’s football at Exeter City looks like and have created their place in its history. Mollie is certainly one of those players and I wish her nothing but the very best.”
Taylor departs after making 124 appearances, winning four Devon County Cup titles and the South West Division One title during her time as a Grecian.
Thank you, Mollie
“From everyone at the Exeter City Women Supporters Club, thank you for everything you’ve given to this club.
You’ve worn the shirt with pride, passion, and heart through every one of your 124 appearances, scoring 24 goals, lifting 4 Devon County Cups, and helping bring home a South West Division One title. But your impact has gone far beyond numbers, the way you are always unapologetically yourself in every way, your determination, and love for Exeter City Women have inspired everyone around you, on and off the pitch.
Tomorrow we’ll come together to make sure we give you the send-off you so truly deserve. You’ll always have a place amongst us, a true Grecian legend through and through”
Once a Grecian, always a Grecian
