Peter Smith, from the Liverpool area, progressed through the apprentice ranks at Exeter City to play around ten first-team games in 1999 and 2000. He later played in non-league football in Lancashire and North Wales.
Peter joined City as a trainee/apprentice in 1997, made his debut as a substitute in the final match of the season at home to Halifax Town in May 1999 and became a full professional in July 1999.
After being sent-off in a League Cup tie against Birmingham City in August 1999, Peter only occasionally featured - often as a substitute - before making his final first-team appearance against Leyton Orient in January 2000.
Released in May 2000, and returning home to Skelmersdale, Peter signed for Bamber Bridge ahead of 2000/01. He later appeared for Caernarfon Town and had a spell playing and coaching in Malta.
