Biographical Text
Jevani Brown arrived at Exeter City from Colchester United in June 2021. He was to become a key player as City won promotion in 2022 but left the club at the end of the following season when he signed for Bristol Rovers.
Jevani was on MK Dons’ books when at school but, after playing for Jamaica under-17s, was not offered a traineeship. He then played for Stotfold before signing for Peterborough United in 2013. His time at London Road ran into problems and Jevani was soon appearing for a succession of non-league teams including Kettering Town, Stamford and St Neots Town.
Jevani was given his professional break at Cambridge United in 2017 and, over the space of two seasons, scored 13 goals in 84 league appearances. A move to Colchester United followed in June 2019 for an undisclosed fee and, before his release in 2021, Jevani scored seven times in 51 league games. He also spent time on loan at Forest Green Rovers.
After leaving Colchester, Jevani joined Exeter on a two-year contract making his debut on 7 August 2021 against Bradford City and scoring his first league goal the following weekend against Oldham Athletic. In what proved to be a promotion season, Jevani scored seven goals and put in many eye-catching performances. He was rewarded with the Exeter City Players’ Player of the Year and the Grecian Travel Away Player of the Year awards.
In August 2022 Jevani was selected by Jamaica for a series of friendly matches but, after the first was cancelled, he was not in the squads for the remaining games.
Jevani made a strong start to the 2022/23 season but, after netting 12 times in 27 league games (including a hat-trick against Forest Green) and reportedly becoming the subject of a rejected transfer bid from Portsmouth, he was suspended by the club for an off-the-field matter. Thereafter he hadn't reappeared for the club when, in May 2023, it was announced that he was out of contract and would be leaving Exeter City. His final appearance for the Grecians had been at MK Dons - where he'd once been a youth player - on 28 January 2023.
He subsequently signed for Bristol Rovers in June 2023 but, after scoring just once in thirty-three league appearances, embarked on an extended loan period with Notts County in August 2024.
