Mike Bovingdon was spotted playing for Heavitree and signed at the end of 1972. He was a left/right winger for the reserves playing in the Western League. Bovingdon was a substitute for Exeter in the Western League on the 15th December 1973, at Tiverton. He played around 25/30 games for the reserves.

After leaving Exeter reserves, Bovingdon played for Dawlish Town & Torquay United reserves.
