CRYSTAL PALACE 1 EXETER CITY 0.

Exeter City were faced with one of their hardest tasks of the season this afternoon, when they opposed Crystal Palace at "The Nest, Selhurst Road, Croydon, in the replay of the match of November 29 which was abandoned five minutes from time, owing to the light failing. The Palace are going strongly in the League, and before today's game had won eleven, drawn four, and lost only one of their sixteen home matches. The Palace were without Smith, their smart centre-forward, who has done a lot of scoring. this season; he is under a month's suspension for an incident which occurred at Bristol on February 28.

The weather was mild and sunny. Rigby won the toss, and took advantage of the light breeze, Menlove kicking off before 5,000 spectators. Pym saved from a corner in the first minute, and a lively raid by the City forwards having been repulsed, Wood was pulled up for offside. Conner was fouled just outside the penalty area, and Feebury tried a shot, which travelled wide. The City attacked through Dockray and Lovett only to find the defence in good form, and the scene of operations was quickly transferred, Feebury shooting wide at the other end.

A foul on Smith on the verge of the penalty area put Exeter's goal in jeopardy but Popplewell headed out Isley's shot. Five minutes before the interval Crystal Palace won two corners, and from Wood's second centre Conner netted.
