Torquay v Exeter Reserves
Southend v City
EXETER LOSE AND OLDACRE IS SENT OFF
Saturday, April 17.
The Kursaal, Southend.
SOUTHEND UNITED 2 EXETER CITY 0.
A disappointing match for Exeter City at the Kursaal, the new ground of the Southend United club, resulted in a defeat by two goals, scored by Upex (first half) and Jones (second half), to nil.
The game in the second half, in fact shortly before Southend obtained their second goal, was marred by an unpleasant incident, culminating in the dismissal from the field of Oldacre. His crime was that he took exception to a particularly bad foul on him by Marshall, and retaliated.
SOUTHEND:
Leahy; Reid, and Marshall; Wileman, Bollington, and Evans; Jones, Nicholls, Upex, Allen, and Young.
EXETER CITY:
Pym; Coleburne, and Strettle; Crawshaw, Popplewell, and Mitton; Oldacre, Makin, Goodwin, Hetherington, and Dockray.
REFEREE: Mr H. G. Tyler, of East Ham, London.

TORQUAY DISTRICT v. EXETER CITY
Exhibition Match at Plainmoor
21/04/1920
In order to advertise the Association Code, the full Southern League side of Exeter City visited Torquay on Wednesday evening, April 21, and met a Torquay District side composed mostly from the Babbacombe and Town clubs, in what proved a good exhibition game.
The District XI had the best of the opening play, and Biddick scored a splendid goal. The Exonians then displayed their skill, but found the home defence in excellent form. Torquay pressed, and a fine shot by Biddick was cleared by Pym, and Gartrell had to save twice at the other end.
In the second half Goodwin equalised for the City, and shortly afterwards Makin obtained the lead. The City "ran rings" round the amateurs in the final half-hour, and further goals were obtained by Goodwin (2) and Makin (2).
The "gate" realised £84, and the watch competition £50.
