1938 Walker, Robert

Occupation

Goalkeeper

Biographical Text

Robert Walker, a goalkeeper from Scotland, signed professional terms with Exeter City in 1938/39 but never appeared for the first-team.

Joining the Grecians from a club in Malta, he had previously been with Motherwell and Falkirk. As a twenty-year-old with Motherwell, and third in the queue behind Alan McCrory and Jock Robertson, he eventually got his chance in the first-team in 1933/34 when he played in successive games against Hamilton (in the New Year derby), Falkirk and Queen of the South. Not appearing again for Motherwell in the Scottish League, he moved on to Falkirk where he made twelve league appearances in 1935/36.

Not enjoying much luck at Exeter, he was unable to dislodge Harry Church from the first-team with Vince Blore providing cover when needed.
