LONGFLEET (POOLE) v EXETER CITY

The first visit of a Southern League club to Poole created a great deal of enthusiasm, and close upon 5,000 spectators gave Exeter City a wonderful welcome.

Longfleet St. Mary's were the first to score, Dempsey getting a strong shot past Fletcher from six yards. Copestake equalised for the professionals, and at the interval the score was 1-1. Nothing was scored in the second half. Although Exeter were on the attack for most of the period their shooting was lamentably weak. They also missed Parnell, who received a bad kick on his right leg just before half-time, and took no further part.

Result: Longfleet St. Mary's 1, Exeter City 1.
