Coventry City (a)

Monday, March 22nd 1909.
SOUTHERN LEAGUE:
COVENTRY CITY V EXETER CITY.

Coventry were rather unlucky to suffer defeat at Swan Lane, the match being decided by a goal (McGuigan) to nil. This came 20 minutes after the start of the second half, the ball coming back to the City leader from a rebound off one of the Coventry backs. It was a good game, but a draw would have been a more fitting result. Coventry had to play the whole of the second half with only ten men, Warren having retired through injury.
Result
Coventry 0-1 City

Coventry: Moult; Barnard, Hanson; Marvin, Gilbert, Chaplin; Tickle, Arnold, Turner, Warren, and Buckle.

Exeter: Robinson; Craig, Crelley; Ambler, Tierney, Wake; Parnell, Watson, McGuigan, Bell, and Copestake.
