THE RESERVES

Plymouth and District League
24th April 1909

South Staffs Regiment v City Reserves

At St. James's Park (the match being played their by mutual agreement) the South Staffs Regiment beat the City Reserves by 2-nil in the Plymouth and District League.

Looe v City Reserves
On Monday, April 26th, Reserves were beaten at Looe, 3-1.

On Wednesday, April 28th, the Reserves completed their Plymouth League fixtures at South Devon Place, where they were opposed to the Green Waves. Nothing was scored. The displays of the City Reserves during the past fortnight have been very inglorious. As a reward for no less than six League encounters they have added one solitary goal to their meagre score.

This cannot be considered in any sense satisfactory, considering the calibre of the teams met, and especially as five of the matches have been at Exeter. However, it is only fair to say that if the games had been evenly distributed over the whole of the season, instead of being compressed into practically the last month, there would have been some quite different results.
