After beating the Argyle in the first round Exeter City were drawn against Swindon, at the County Ground. However, their progress in the competition was short-lived, for they were thoroughly outclassed by the "Railwaymen", who beat them by four clear goals in a one sided - match.
The goals were scored by Bown and Fleming (first half), two more being added by Jefferson and Lavery afterwards. There was only a small attendance, less than 1000 being present.
