Saturday, November 6th.
Southern League Match,
at St. James's Park.
EXETER CITY v WATFORD

Watford, one of the four teams below Exeter City in the League, were regarded as an easy home win, yet managed to take a point. Exeter made the mistake of treating the opposition too lightly. It was a scrappy and lifeless game, the worst seen at Exeter this season.

CITY:
Crossthwaite; Crelley, and Jones; Atkinson, Tierney, and Hartley; Green, Watson, McGuigan, Bell, and Garside.
WATFORD:
Biggar; Lockett, and Betts; Grieve, Kent, and Beaumont; Cottrill, Maclaine, Skilton, White, and Moore.

Referee: Mr C.Neale, of Bristol.

After 35 minutes Green shot a splendid goal. The visitors never theless went straight away from the restart, and catching the Exeter defence in a moment of hesitation Maclaine netted after Crossthwaite had only partially cleared the ball. From this point the game deteriorated, and both sides indulged in bouts of aimless long kicking that served no useful purpose at all. Never, during the course of the game, were the spectators treated to anything like a combined movement, and even the goals were only the result of following up high kicks.

CROSSTHWAITE AT FAULT:

Exeter ought to have won, and Crossthwaite was at fault in the letting through of Watford's goal. He has given away goals to Bristol Rovers, Norwich City, Portsmouth, and Queen's Park Rangers, by only partially clearing, and now Watford. Watford were a poor side, and new forwards are needed. Their half backs were only moderate. Result: Exeter City 1 goal, Watford 1.

PLYMOUTH LEAGUE:
East Surrey Regiment v City Reserves

Exeter City Reserves were beaten by the East Surrey Regiment, at the Brickfields, Devonport, by five goals to nil.
