SOUTHERN LEAGUE:
LUTON TOWN v EXETER CITY.
The City were unable to repeat last year's win at the Bedfordshire ground; this time they lost, and were well beaten into the bargain. The victory by three goals to one does not flatter Luton 's superiority, either. For 70 minutes out of the hour and a half Luton were ahead of Exeter in a pronounced manner, and the Grecians' goal had several narrow escapes as well. The game was barely three minutes old when Luton Town opened their account. Smith, well placed, put in a hard drive which hit the inside of the post and cannoned into the net behind Crossthwaite. This early success encouraged Luton to bring out all their fine football, which they did, but could not turn it into goals. Quinn hit the crossbar, then the post, and Crossthwaite made three sensational saves from Moody, Smith, and Jones. A minute before half time Exeter City broke away, and Green scored the equalising goal with a fine cross shot from 20 yards. The second half was full of excitement and entertainment, but there were only ten minutes left when Luton scored again. Fred Hawkes, from 20 yards' range, gave his side the lead, and almost on time Hedley got the third direct from a free kick from nearly double that range.

PLYMOUTH AND DISTRICT LEAGUE:
City Reserves v Millbrook Rangers:
The Rangers became the first visiting team to win a League match at St. James's Park this season, beating Exeter Reserves by 2-1. The City led at the interval, Copestake having scored, but their play became slack in the second half, and Cooper equalised. Hopper scored the winning goal after Sturge had saved from Daniels.

Rangers: Moore; Adams and Horswell; Lambie, Cooper, and Bath; Gosland, Sutherland, Hopper, Daniels, and Tredigo.
