CITY V CRYSTAL PALACE
Exeter Win Their Last Home Match: BRILLIANT DISPLAY BY THE GRECIANS
Exeter concluded their list of home matches in brilliant style by scoring a clear cut victory over Crystal Palace, one of the top clubs in the League. The City, who won two goals to nil, dominated the game, especially in the second half, and in Jones, Atkinson, Ambler, Watson and Garside had the day's outstanding players.

THE PALACE
The first half was productive of many exciting incidents, and in the opening stages the visitors were playing a fine game. They tested the City defence with great severity although the shooting of Williams and company was not very accurate. But the City gradually got the measure of their opponents, and with Watson back to his best form the forwards began to exhibit some very clever footwork. They frequently baffled the Palace defence, and it was as well that Johnson was safe in goal. Johnson was in fact responsible for a few daring saves, particularly from Bell and Watson. At the interval the score-sheet was still blank, but with the City showing such an improvement it came as no surprise when Garside opened the scoring five minutes after the restart. Watson initiated the movement, being well supported by McGuigan. Collyer made a half-hearted clearance, and Garside, fastening on to the ball, rounded the Palace back and beat Johnson with a shot that I went into the net off the inside of the goalpost. This success was quickly followed by a second goal, Copestake netting the ball from a free kick after Johnson had saved from Watson and McGuigan. Exeter dominated the play after this, and visiting attacks fizzled out. Jones and Atkinson were instrumental in breaking down the Palace rushes before the interval, while Ambler continued to show that his best position is centre-half. After rather a poor game at Southend, Bob Watson came back to his very best form, and his inclusion appears to give the other forwards the confidence previously lacking. Bulcock, the former Grecian, appeared in the Palace team in his accustomed position of left-back. He was no better, and no worse, than when he played for Exeter last season. Hughes was the mainstay of the Crystal Palace defence in the second half, and Johnson had no chance with either of the shots that beat him.
