Exeter City have now played four away games this season, They have scored first in every one, yet they have just two points. They seem to crumble in what is becoming notorious bad start at the beginning of the second half. It was another poor performance by City, no one played well, Exeter cannot afford to let those goal leads slip as they have done, Bradford were not a good team, they had gone 24 League teams without a win, City went ahead in the 35th minute when a Mike Balson throw in was headed back by Jimmy Blain and Micky Bullock hooked the ball past Hardie from close rangeWithin 10 minutes of the second half Bradford had not only equalised but also taken the leadIn the 47th minute Darfield shot, it was parried by Peter Shearing and Draper followed up to score. Amateur Penrose making his debut got the second after 55 minutes, Bradford were allowed to hustle and bustle City in the second half, and they were not in it very much. The home side chased and fought as they hit long balls into the City defence, Apart from a shot from Blain, there was little else seen from Exeter in the second half.
Match Summary
Perhaps we had come to expect too much from the City after some of the delightful games we have seen them play during the past month, but judged by any standards we were a poor side at Bradford. Suffice to say that this was Bradford's first victory in 25 League games and they deserved to beat Exeter, who left too many gaps in the middle and would have taken a hiding from a better team than Bradford. Once again we scored first. This time it was Peter Bullock who put us ahead, but once again the opposition pushed us back in that notorious spell early in the second half, notorious for Exeter that is. and they scored twice within 10 minutes of the restart.
