Scorers:
Wrexham Griffiths, May,

One minute remained, City were clinging desparately to a 2-1 lead, then centre half May moved, into the penalty area and perfectly met a corner with his head and Peter Shearing had to pick the ball out of his net. It had been a competitive game and the City played some good football at times. They had to soak up some Wrexham pressure, particularly in the second half, yet it was during this period City scored their goals. It was Wrexham however who scored the first goal of the match after 6 minutes from a penalty. Griffiths slammed his kick into the net via the underside of the bar. After this City pressed hard and Mike Balson had a header cleared off the line, Peter Shearing kept Exeter in the game when he produced a brilliant save from Tinnion, Exeter equalised in the 59th minute, John Wingate's low hard cross was pushed out by Livesey but only as far as Fred Binney who forced the ball over the line with his chest, Griffiths had a goal disallowed for offside, then City went in front with 10 minutes remaining from Jimmy Blain's free kick, Binney headed wide of Livesey, Wrexham made a tremendous push in the final minutes and City survived some hectic scrambles before May headed the equaliser,

Match Summary

This was our third draw in successive visits to Wrexham, but at no time was the point more welcome than now. In deed, this might have been two points for we were in the lead for a long spell in the second half, having many narrow escapes, before Wrexham centre-half Eddie May got their equaliser in the last minute. Fred Binney scored both of our goals after Griffiths had opened the scoring with a penalty for Wrexham.
