The safety curtain has dropped at St James' Park, Exeter City dispelled their re-election worries in their last home match finishing on a high note with a victory. It has been a long hard road for City and the final triumph came after taking their 23rd point from their last 17 games since February, A remarkable record to say the least, Halifax had gone 17 games without defeat but that record bit the dust in a fast moving and entertaining game, In the first half little was seen of the visitors as Exeter produced some good Football, The City took a 27th minute lead when Alan Banks slotted in Fred Binney's through ball, Binney scored himself three minutes before half time heading in a Dave Pleat cross, In the opening minutes of the second half Halifax came at Exeter knocking them out of their stride and they were rewarded with a tremendous goal in the 55th minuteFlowers scored with a cross shot, There were further anxious moments for City before they began to settle again and came back at Halifax in the closing stages,
