One man short, 15 minutes to play and a goal down. That was the position Exeter City found themselves in at the Shay. But City kept running and working. They never stopped and 8 minutes from the end they got what they deserved, an equaliser and their first point of the season. Yet when Burce Stuckey was sent off after 75 minutes, City's goalscoring chances obviously did not look so good. Cliff Huxford playing in midfield was the goalscorer, It was hard and tough football. Halifax more often than not used one method, the long ball into the City penalty area. It came off once in the 65th minute when ????? scored, The City side played as a unit and at times played fluent football in their counter attacks, Everyone of the City players gave 100 per cent effort in what was the best performance of the season, The tackling by both sides was unyielding, Mike Balson had his name taken whilst lying injured off the field after an incident with the Halifax goalkeeper, Campbell Crawford's name also went into the referee's notebook. Halifax somehow escaped any punishment, Stuckey was sent off after a great deal of confusion near the corner flag,

Match Summary

What a contrast to the previous game. Exeter got a point at Halifax because they chased hard from start to finish and never gave up trying even after we had been reduced to 10 men after Bruce Stuckey had been sent off. Indeed, it was during that last 15 minutes when we were without Stuckey that we got a well deserved equaliser with a shot by Cliff Huxford.

Another most pleasing feature of our display was the wonderful all-round improvement of the defence. This had really tightened-up.
