From City's point of view the less said about this game the better. We made our usual promising start but the attack was ineffective near the Brentford goal and it was the visitors who scored first after 22 minutes through Higginson. Even after this shock we still kept plodding along for a long while and it still looked as if we might be able to make a fight of it. But in the 36th minute Brentford broke through again and Fenton put them to up. Thereafter Brentford was the only side in the game and there were times in the second half when they toyed with the City. Their third goal was the result of a fine open move and Fenton, unhampered by any opposition, was able to shoot the easiest of goals.
