Match 34

Peterborough (h)

12th February 1973
Football League
Exeter 1-1 Peterborough

Exeter City maintained their unbeat- en home record in the Fourth Division with a 1-1 draw against Peterborough United. Indeed the Grecians had won all their matches at St James Park apart from drawing against Hartlepool United (1-1), and Newport County (0-0). This run of success at home was reflected in the attendance fig- ure for the visit of Peterborough as 5,403 spectators were present. Leading goalscorer Fred Binney added to his seasons tally with another goal for the Grecians, whilst Allan Russell replied for the Posh. This was to be Russell's only goal for Peterborough, as he was to be released by the club at the end of the season. The draw, was perhaps a disappointment in view of the respective teams form in the League. Peterborough were languishing towards the foot of the table. It was Peterborough's second game in Devon within forty eight hours, as on the Saturday they had lost 1-0 at Torquay United, with former Exeter City winger Bruce Stuckey scoring the all important goal.

PETERBOROUGH UNITED: Mick Drewery, Keith Bradley, Chris Turner, Jack Carmichael, John Duncliffe, Dennis Oakes, Don Heath (Allan Russell), Enc Young, John Cozens, Jim Hall, Tommy Robson.
