WTS Stand Grecians

This stand is the newest addition to the ground and was opened in 2001. This smart looking all seated construction is home to over 2,000 fans in a single tier, with some executive boxes located in the middle to the rear. It is also home to the Grecian Centre, which does great work off the pitch, and for a time it hosted the dug out, which led to Alex Inglethorpe and Paul Tisdale orchestrating a strong period for the club on the pitch. Before the modern stand was erected at the turn of the millennium, this part of St James Park was known as the ‘Cowshed’, courtesy of its corrugated iron clad standing terrace. The main feature of this stand was the raised earth bank that it sat upon, which had previously led to it being known as the ‘Daisy Bank’. You can hear the audience celebrating in this audio file made on 6 April 2015, when David Wheeler scored right footed from the right side of the six yard box to the bottom right corner against Newport County.
