Goalgetter in chief Fred Binney claimed his 27th goal of the season to spark a dreary display into life. He then went onto head the winner for good measure after Colchester quickly levelled, Binney scored the first of his goals in the 36th minute, disposessing Morgan, advancing on goal and then coolly planitng the ball in the back of the net from the edge of the penalty area, Colchester equalisd 6 minutes later when they cashed in on a bad mistake by keith Clapham. His hopeful header back to Allan Clarke was intercepted by Foley who easily scored, In a ragged first half the home side failed to make the most of their chances around the City goalmouth, Binney's neatly taken header put Exeter back on top after only a minute of the second half, following a centre from John Neale,

Colchester swept back into the attack, and Jimmy Giles had to clear off the Exeter goallline. The City defence held firm though, with Clarke making saves from Foley, and Cook, as Colchester were virtually camped around the City goalmouth, Exeter's victory makes it virtually certain that Colchester will have to apply for re-election,

NO MORE HELP SAYS CITY SUPPORTER OF THE YEAR.

David Denley voted the Exeter City Supporter of the Year less than a month ago has stopped his own voluntary fund raising for the club because he feels he has been "kicked in the teeth" by the Exeter City directors, Denley, 31, a businessman from Pinhoe, wanted to buy some club shares, but his request was turned down by the board at a recent meeting,

He said; "That is the end of my fund raising for the club, I am extremely upset and disheartened, only wanted a maximum of £50 worth of shares, They would not have been for my own personal profit. it was just to have some small part in the club." During the last 18 months Denley has raised £1,800 for Exeter City using various schemes,

Walter Rice, City's P.R.0, and a member of the board confirmed that Denley's application for shares had been turned down, despite the fact that there are 480 available for purchase, Rice said; "The club do not have enough shares available, We need to keep shares back because we want to enlarge the board of directors. But I will have a further look into the matter."
