Exeter City brought home a point from their last Fourth Division match of the season after a goalless draw at Hartlepool in a game in which both sides missed chances, The snow and sleet showers only added to the frustrations of the very small crowd, An attack of influenza on the journey, north kept Tony Scott out of the side and Jimmy Blain stepped in to fill the left wing spot in place of him. What with the snow showers and the rock bottom soccer, the game if one could call it that, became more of an endurance test for those watching. Plainly meither side had anything at stake, but if there had been a result it would have gone City's way for Hartlepool had some narrow escapes in the second half,Exeter should have grabbed the lead in the opening minutes, instead John Wingate scooped the ball over the bar from 6 yards. Then John Neale shot wide when well placed. The only shot Exeter's goalkeeper Bob Wilson had seriously to deal with was a 60th minute blockbuster from former City player Alan Goad, The final whistle brought relief to all.

CITY'S LEAGUE LINER TRIP IS A BIG SUCCESS.

Exeter City's train trip to Peterborough United last week netted the club a profit of more than £300. The hiring of the special League iner was a big success. The cost of the hire was £1,000, but it was very worthwhile and Exeter City's commercial manager John Hillier said that the club would consider hiring it again next season, Mr Lee Walker, the official representative of the Football League had travelled on all the previous trips made by the train and said that Exeter's was the best organised, There were 336 paying customers on the train, in addition to the 57 people from Ilfracombe who missed the train at Taunton because they made an error timing their journey from North Devon.
