Match 08

Doncaster (Home)
Western League
Bath City v City Reserves
SATURDAY 21st SEPTEMBER 1963.
CITY ARE WINNERS ALL THE WAY HENDERSON LEADS THE CITY TO ANOTHER VICTORY.
EXETER CITY 3 (Henderson 2 Curtis)
DONCASTER 1 (Booth) 1.
Another win for Exeter City this time beating Doncaster Rovers they showed the St James's Park fans the sort of performance which has been getting them the praise and points away from homeThe best thing about it was the way that the forward line fell into formationCurtis, Rees and Henderson were always all potential danger men to the Doncaster defence. There was no doubt though that a tremendous amount of the team's success was due to Curtis, Curtis paved the way for Henderson's 25th minute goal, he had a hand in the second five minutes later and scored the third himself, with any luck he could have had a couple of others. City were winners all the way, it started right from defence, hardly a ball was wastedThe result was that less strain was placed on everyone, the team functioned as a complete unit, Once again Smyth was City's outstanding defender and there is no doubt that if he keeps playing as he has done so far this season, then the club will soon be beating off offers for this young Irishman, Rees had an impressive game, running rings around Myers and Henderson was cutting through almost every time.
